Nilufar Mohebbi , Prof. Dr. med.

  • Attending Physician for General Internal Medicine and Nephrology
  • Praxis- und Dialysezentrum Zürich-City

Prof. Nilufar Mohebbi studied medicine at the Johannes Gutenberg-University Mainz, Germany, and trained in nephrology with Prof. Friedrich Luft at the Charité Berlin, Germany. She undertook postdoctoral training in Berlin and shortly after in Zurich at the Institute of Physiology of the University Zurich (Prof. Heini Murer, Prof. Carsten Wagner) where she became passionate about renal physiology and in particular tubular physiology and acid base homeostasis. After several years of basic science research on tubular diseases including renal tubular acidoses, she translated her knowledge successfully into a SNF-funded multicentre interventional clinical trial at the University Hospital Zurich, investigating the impact of metabolic acidosis on kidney graft function in renal transplant recipients. As she experienced and enjoyed an excellent teaching in Berlin and Zurich, it is of great importance to her to also contribute to education of medical students, interns and fellows.
